La Plateforme pour sauver les plages de l'île Maurice call the responsibility to address the demand of Tarisa Resort, on a shifting coastal road of Mont-Choisy. According to this organization, it will create a 2 km bypass for those wishing to go to the beach of Mont-Choisy.

A new battle appeared for the La Plateforme pour sauver les plages de l'île Maurice. This time, La Plateforme opposed the change of the road bordering the beach of Mont-Choisy. The Tarisa Resort direction was asking for this deviation, thereby enabling it to expand the facility size. And especially to enable its customers to have direct access to the sea without crossing the road that separates the beach.

La Plateforme pour sauver les plages de l'île Maurice is definitely against this deviation. According to the spokesman of this movement, George Ah Yan, divert the coast road to Mont-Choisy has disadvantages for the local people and also for the public.

They hold a press conference at the Social Centre on this subject, this Friday, March 4. The movement sent today a letter to the Department of Housing and Lands whether that authority has approved the road deviation.

George Ah Yan appeals to the Department of Housing and Lands to assume they responsibilities. He explains that the deviation will result in a detour of about 2 km to reach the beach, which is also a place of worship. "Currently, to access the beach, just 20-25 meters do that," points out George Ah Yan. In his opinion, that request Tarisa Resort will return to privatize part of the beach of Mont-Choisy. Thus, the rights and freedom of the people of Mont-Choisy and other Mauritians will be harmed.

"We are opposed to development at any cost, to the satisfaction of one person," said George Ah Yan. The spokesperson for the Platform to save the beaches of Mauritius La Plateforme pour sauver les plages de l'île Maurice said that already, Mauritians and tourists can enjoy more, the coastal road between Trou aux Biches and Mont-Choisy, the sight of the beach because there are walls that hinder.
