The auto-insurance SICOM introduced plans for those who drive a few
The State Insurance Company of Mauritius (SICOM) is currently offering a new product for his car insurance.

This is the concept of discount for smaller riders. This measure comes after the SICOM realized that some motorists are paying high prices for insurance, while their vehicles are in a parking lot for much of the year. Thus, to build customer loyalty, three scales are available, and which only concern those who have the insurance coverage.

The first is for very small riders who use their vehicles less than 3, 000 km per year. They benefit from a 20% discount.

Those who make less than 5, 000 km per year will pay their insurance 15% cheaper.

Finally, those who drive less than 10, 000 km per year receive a 10% discount.

These offers are only valid after the first policy year. And, after an expert appointed by the SICOM has come to the mileage of the vehicle, and ensure that the meter has not been tampered with.

In addition, drivers who have not had an accident receive a bonus of 5% each year.

Note that the SICOM offers as examples a comprehensive insurance which the basic rate is Rs 21, 926 per year for a new Toyota Vitz worth Rs 750, Rs 000 and 43, 752 for a new Nissan Qashqai worth Rs 1.5 million. By comparison, the Mauritius Union offers comprehensive insurance rates of Rs 26, 266 for the same Toyota Vitz and Rs 49,000 for the same Nissan Qashqai.
