Stolen Vehicles and Charred: One Suspect Arrested
A peddler of 23 years, residing at Valley of the Priests, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a search at his home.

He appeared in court Thursday in Port Louis an interim charge of robbery and remains in detention. His arrest follows two complaints filed in recent days about the stolen and recovered burnt vans without license plates, in Vallée-des-Priests.

Police assigned to the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) under the supervision of Sergeant Muneearuth have carefully analyzed the information from the field and made the link with information about a street vendor involved in a traffic vehicle parts.

The operation, mounted under the supervision of the Chief Inspector and Superintendent Hossenbaccus Delawarrally, with the help of staff the "Special Supporting Unit", the "Supporting Divisional Unit" of the crime squad and the CIU, has allowed investigators have a warrant to search the home of the peddler.

During the search, various items such as four-speaker, six mobile phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, jewelry, a watch, 18 boxes of cheese, spare parts for vehicles and two plates, one of which corresponds to that of the van and found charred in a cane field Chitrakoot, Vallée-des-Priests, a quantity of cannabis, a cartridge of  a case of FNB5.6  and FNB 3.93, were seized.

The police found a Gabon gray parrot, a bird recorded as stolen to the police station and Trou-Fanfaron estimated at Rs 100,000. The value of all the objects found is around Rs 400,000. More arrests are expected in this case according to police sources.
