The system of penalty points, which came into force this Friday, May 10, may experience changes in the future. A greater number of offenses may be punished by this system.

That's what reporters Ben Bentipilly, Advisor Road Safety Office of the Prime Minister on Friday afternoon. He participated in the official launch of "Speed Enforcement Camera System" at the headquarters of the Traffic Management and Road Safety Unit in Port-Louis.

According to Ben Bentipilly, there is no question of reducing the number of offenses under the penalty points, but add. Currently, the penalty points for 18 offenses (see table below).

"There will certainly be changes to improve the system. I am skeptical about the idea of reducing the number of crimes [under license points]. I think we will add other crimes in the future, "he said.
