Ford revealed the 2018 Mustang convertible Friday, releasing two images of the refreshed droptop ahead of its launch this fall in tandem with the coupe version.
Essentially, all of the updates for the coupe, which debuted earlier this week, will roll into the convertible.
That means the same updated powertrains, a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and the traditional 5.0-liter V8 will be under its hood. Both can be paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission co-developed with General Motors.
The convertible shares the same new look as the coupe, which most notably features a restyled front end with angled headlights, a new grille shape, and a lowered hood. The Mustang will also offer a new digital gauge cluster, more safety features like Pre-Collision Assist, an active exhaust to customize the sound, and a MagneRide suspension.

Both Mustang models share the same suspension setup, but the convertible's is tuned slightly differently, a Ford spokesman said. The droptop can be lowered in about 10 seconds at speeds up to three miles per hour. The convertible mechanism is the same as the 2017 model.
The 2018 Mustang convertible debuts today at the South Carolina and Louisville auto shows and will not be on display at the Detroit Auto Show, a spokesman said.
