5 Student-Designed Supercar Concepts
Automotive design students envision the supercars of tomorrow, but is anyone from Ferrari or Lamborghini paying attention?

We all like to imagine what the supercars of the future will look like, and some of us may have even penned a few design studies of our own over the years. Then there are those who chose to make a career out of it and go on to design school. Although each one of these design studies are still on the drawing boards, we sincerely hope brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti are paying attention to these young designers' work.

The Lamborghini Ganador Concept is the creation of design student Mohammed Hossein Amini Yekta. Designed in collaboration with the famous Italian marquee, the Ganador can’t be mistaken for anything but a Lambo thanks to its wedge-shaped design and its aggressive stance. Yekta’s work was supposedly inspired by the Bertone's 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero Concept, as well as many Lambos past and present, and he describes it as resembling "a gentleman with a muscular body, wearing a tuxedo." In other words, we should expect to see the Ganador protecting the President at the next state dinner.

Although the new LaFerrari has just recently made its grand entrance, there is already some envisioning what the ultimate Ferrari will look like in the future. One such individual is design student Christophe Jourd’hui, the author of the Getto concept. Meaning "Jet" in Italian, the idea was to give the driver the ultimate behind-the-wheel experience by way of a floating cockpit sustained by chassis cross-members from above. Design cues were also taken from Ferrari classics such as the 288 GTO, 250 GTO, and the F40, but updated for the year year 2025.

Pawel Czyzewski is the designer behind this gorgeous vision of a future Bugatti. The Polish student's Gangloff concept is inspired by the 1938 Bugatti Type 57 SC Atalante Coupe, along with some styling cues taken from the Veyron. In designing the Gangloff, Czyzewski claims he wants to revive the golden era of handbuilt creations. "In times of commercial trash and plastic it is hard to see something that has a soul and is able to squeeze out a positive mark on the heart." Well put good sir, very well put.

Christophe Jourd’hui is back with yet another dramatic design concept, only this time he sets his sights on BMW. To mark the 40th anniversary of the brand’s legendary M division, he set out to combine styling elements of the old 8 Series coupe and the retro Z8 Roadster that followed. The result is dubbed the MZ8. Jourd’hui’s design includes a unique twist on the classic twin-kidney grille along with a shark-style front-end. Also included is a removable hardtop and oversized wheels. Unlike the its design inspirations, the MZ8 features a mid-engine setup as opposed to a front-mounted engine.

Lamborghini seems content in sticking with the mid-engine setup for its lineup of two-door supercars for the time being. But what if it incorporated design elements from past favorites like the Miura along with something more modern such as the Estoque sedan concept? Alex Imnadze had the same thought so he created this downright gorgeous design study. Although the engine is still located mid-ship and not up front, this concept is certainly a departure of what Lamborghini has built in more recent times. But we absolutely love it and would be thrilled if something like it were to make production.
