Aston Martin AM37S Speedboat Hits The Waves In Monaco

After revealing renderings of the AM37 speedboat in 2015, Quintessence Yachts finally has a pair of real-world examples on the water at the Monaco Yacht Show. The company finishes one of them with a Diavolo Red exterior and Cream Truffle leather cabin. The other is Ocellus Teal with Ivory leather and teak decking at the rear.

Quintessence Yachts can build the AM37 in a variety of specifications depending on buyer's desires. The top version, which the ship builder calls the AM37S, uses a pair of gas-fueled Mercury Racing engines that each produces 520 horsepower (388 kilowatts). In the middle of the range, the firm installs two, 430-hp (321-kW) gasoline-powered Mercury engines. The standard setup packs two, 370-hp (276-kW) diesel powerplants also from Mercury.

Measuring 37 feet (11.3 meters), Aston Martin's boat isn't the type of yacht you could live on, like the Dynamiq GTT 115 with a design from Studio F. A. Porsche, which also debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show. Instead, Quintessence imagines the AM37 as a watercraft that owners would enjoy for the day, but they would likely return to dry land for the evening.

When not in service The AM37 does a transformation like the Batmobile because a mobile app lets owners deploy sliding carbon-fiber panels that protect the cabin from harsh weather or curious onlookers.

Once open, pilots nestle into an automotive-like cockpit. A 15-inch touchscreen digital dashboard display shows information for navigation and the entertainment system. Drivers can also toggle controls for things like activating the anchor, deploying the carbon-fiber bimini top, and extending the retractable swimming platform.

Below the deck, there's a small cabin for relaxation. It includes a sofa that converts into a double bed, a bathroom with a shower, and a tiny galley kitchen, including a drawer-style refrigerator. A 48-inch TV down there can display the navigation screen, too.

Quintessence Yachts has its headquarters in the Netherlands but builds the AM37 near Southampton, England. The production locations lends a connection to Aston Martin British legacy. Assembly of the third AM37 is already underway there.
