Atticus Motors is the latest EV startup with big dreams

Paulo Camasmie is building an EV called the Atticus Robocar, and he said a limited number will be available for sale for about $25,000 by the end of the decade. And that's battery included.

Judging by a two-minute video posted by the company, a prototype of the car has an erector-set look and can be summoned from the garage to the driveway via voice activation. Other Siri-for-the-active-set voice-control features include activating a roof rack and a bike rack. The car will also have falcon-winged doors a la the Tesla Model X. Like the Tesla, its battery pack is in the bottom of the car and centered. And a "we are done for the day" command shuts everything down. The model is called the 4P (i.e. seating for four people), and it's been taken out on the street.

The project is certainly ambitious. The 2,200-pound car will be 157 inches long, or about the length of a BMW i3, and will eventually be what Atticus calls a "100% automated pod." The car is supposed to be able to go 93 miles on a full charge, and will have a top speed of about 70 miles per hour. Additionally, the car's battery will be on rollers and will be swappable, while the vehicle's chassis will be recyclable. The car's modular design will also allow for configurations from two to six seats. All good amenities, we say. Now, let's see if Mr. Camasmie can fund the project.
