Like nearly all products, there are pricing tiers for models, and it generally starts with cool Hot Wheels cars for a couple bucks at the local store.
We're pretty sure the top tier is Amalgam, which charges $19,900 for its new 1:8-scale Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie Spider diecast replicas. Or, you can upgrade to the unique Bespoke Edition, costing no less than $27,860. That's enough to buy a new (and very real) Honda Civic Hatchback.
What Makes A Model Car Worth Nearly $30,000
Those prices are not typos. Amalgam builds ultra-high-end scale models of exotic vehicles, oftentimes in limited numbers. In this case, just 199 hardtops and 199 Spiders will be built. However, if you could magically shrink down to 1:8 your size, we reckon you'd have a tough time discerning this model from the real deal.
The standard $19,900 version comes in Podium Green with an all-black interior. The customized Bespoke Edition for $27,860 allows buyers to get a model that matches their real Valkyrie. These are hefty prices for model cars. On the other hand, a real Valkyrie begins at approximately $3.25 million, making Amalgam's offerings easily affordable to anyone who already owns one of these real-life supercars.
Amalgam's new Valkyrie models required over 3,000 hours to develop. The company worked with Aston Martin, including using the original CAD designs, paint codes, and material specifications. Each car has thousands of parts, with many components being cast or CNC-machined metal. To achieve this level of quality, the items require around 300 hours to assemble, with all the work done by hand. At a 1:8 scale, these cars measure roughly 22 inches long.
Judging from the photos, the models look identical to the real thing, just with a much smaller physical footprint. Opening the panel covering the engine compartment reveals details such as tiny UPC and QR decals exactly where you'd find them on an authentic Valkyrie. The cabin showcases a variety of materials, including Alcantara on the steering wheel.
Once you own a $27,860 1:8-scale replica of your Aston Martin Valkyrie, you need a way to display the tiny machine in style. Amalgam offers handcrafted display cabinets for showing off the scale model. The company also sells stands and plinths to put it on.

The Real Valkyrie
The Aston Martin Valkyrie originally debuted as the AM-RB 001 and eventually took the name of the female figures who guided souls to Odin's hall, Valhalla, in Norse mythology. The moniker was a good fit because the automaker also had the Valhalla hypercar. The famous Formula One car designer Adrian Newey was responsible for the Valkyrie's sharp shape.
Aston Martin hired Cosworth to create the vehicle's naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, making an astounding 1,000 horsepower at 10,500 rpm. The powertrain also has a hybrid component that takes the Valkyrie's total output to 1,160 hp and 664 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual from Ricardo, which requires a rebuild every 31,000 miles.
Aston Martin also took the Valkyrie endurance racing. To capitalize on the connection between motorsports and hypercars, the company is building a limited run of 10 LM versions. The changes include detuning the engine to 700 hp, just like the one competing at Le Mans.
