Bangladesh to Get Locally Assembled Tata Nano in 2013
According to a report on Business Standard, the Tata Nano could be assembled in Bangladesh for their domestic market so as to price it competitively.

Bangladesh based business group Nitol-Niloy who are the distributors of Tata vehicles in Bangladesh has announced plans to locally assemble the Nano which will be imported as CKD (Completely knocked Down) kits.

The Nitol-Niloy group maybe new to us, but it has been assembling Tata commercial vehicles since 1991 for the Bangladeshi market.

Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmed, Chairman of the Nitol-Niloy Group said: “We are now working on manufacturing of Tata Ace pick range and will look into Nano manufacturing after that. Nano will probably come by April 2013.”

The Bangladeshi business group was initially planning to import 2,000 completely built Tata Nanos this year but decided to assemble it locally to evade the local tax structure. Mr. Ahmed also stated that before bringing in the Nano, they will explore the potential of Indigo CS.

Tata is exporting Completely Built Units (CBU) of Nano to Sri Lanka and Nepal. The company has announced that they will launch the car in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries in 2013. Tata Motors had previously announced that the Nano may be assembled overseas, however the automaker didn’t respond when inquired about the local assembly of the Nano in Bangladesh.
