The all-new BYD Song 7 instantly reminds of the latest Toyota Innova’s sweptback headlamps and trapezoidal front grille. The premium design was probably signed off by ex-Audi designer Wolfgang Egger who now leads the design team at BYD. Unlike the Changan Lingxuan, the BYD Song 7 doesn’t look like a clone of the Toyota Innova.
The BYD Song 7 measures 4,680 mm in length, 1,810 in width and 1,680 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. The three-row MPV has a 2+3+2 seating layout.
The all-new model will have 154 hp 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and 140 hp 2.0-litre engine options at launch, along with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 303 hp hybrid variant is reportedly in the works.
The BYD Song 7 will go on sale in China in the second half of 2017. The hybrid variant will go on sale in 2018.
