Crackdown On Dealers Without Licences Starts

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection will be cracking down on importers of second-hand vehicles who do not hold the appropriate licences.

 “We want to inform the general public about the numerous complaints made by individuals against people acting as agents for the importation of second-hand motor vehicles on their behalf,” said the minister of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection, Sayed Hossen, to The Independent.

Second-hand motorcars being imported should be between 18 months and 4 years of age from the date of first registration to the date of shipment.

According to the minister, only companies having a valid licence as authorised dealers in the importation and sale of second-hand motor vehicles are allowed to import and offer second-hand motor vehicles for sale.

 “We have a list of approximately 60 authorised dealers in the importation and sale of second-hand motor vehicles on the government’s website, all those wishing to buy a second-hand car should check this list,” he concluded.
