Approximately 100 liters of fuel were spilled on the road at the roundabout Quai D, Port-Louis, following an accident involving a truck carrying cement. Two injured are to be deplored.

Firefighters have been busy in the afternoon of Saturday, November 19 at the roundabout of Quai D, Port Louis. A truck carrying cement and belonging to the firm Holcim, overturned on the road.

The driver and the driver using escaped with minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital Jeetoo, Port-Louis, to receive first aid. Police called for vigilance of motorists who use this road which has become very slippery.

Police said about 100 gallons of diesel leaked from the vehicle tank. It was punctured after the shock of the accident. It took nearly two hours for firefighters to clean up.

A witness to the accident said he saw the truck enter the roundabout at high speed. "Given the weight he was carrying, it has been destabilized and then rolled onto its left side. I heard like an explosion. Everyone was still in shock, "he says.

The truck driver was slightly wounded in the head, while his colleague was trapped in the vehicle. It took the intervention of the fire so he could get out.
