The launch will now take place towards the end of this financial year. Hero announced and showcased the HX250R in January last year, and a market launch was expected to take place in Q2 or Q3 of FY 2015-16.

However, a report on Autocar Pro states that the launch would be delayed owing to Hero’s tech partner, EBR’s (Erik Buell Racing) sudden bankruptcy announcement.

EBR filed for Chapter 128 (Wisconsin’s bankruptcy alternative) in April this year, leaving 126 employees jobless and over USD 20 million  in liability. EBR was providing technical inputs for high-end models like the HX250R, which was in an advanced stage of development. However, with the American company having shut shop, the HX250R’s development would see a delay, which in turn will postpone the launch by a quarter, a source told the publication.

Hero Motocorp is reportedly seeking external help to complete the HX250R sports bike. Hero announced that the motorcycle will be powered by a newly-developed 249 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with 31 hp and 26 Nm of torque on tap.

Based on an all-new Geodesic Tubular Frame, the HX250R weighs 139 kg, and is capable of hitting 100 km/h in 9 seconds. Reports also claim that the motorcycle will get two driving modes – City and Sports – which promise better efficiency or better power respectively.
