Fast 8 Film Crew Drops Car From Cleveland Parking Garage
Clevelanders were treated to a little movie magic on this week as second unit filming started on Fast 8.

Baseball fans leaving Progressive Stadium on May 16 after the Indians' win over the Cincinnati Reds witnessed a car plummet to Prospect Avenue from the sixth floor of the nearby Halle parking garage. Local Tribe fan Rick Doll caught the stunt on video and uploaded it to Twitter with the caption, "Good thing this street was closed."

According to Cleveland.com, stunt drivers were seen rehearsing scenes at Euclid Square Mall over the past week, but the stunt at the Halle garage was the first bit of filming done downtown. Primary filming in Cleveland on Fast 8 began Wednesday, May 18, causing closures of Superior Ave., East 9th Street, Rockwell Ave, and Theresa Court.

Fast 8 is the eighth installment of the popular The Fast and the Furious film series starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Michelle Rodriguez. It is the second film in the series, after 2006's The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to not star the late Paul Walker who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in 2013.

Principal photography on the film began in March 2016 in Mývatn,Iceland, and in late April filming began in Cuba's capital city Havana and in Arkanes in the Western Region of Iceland. Filming is also scheduled to take place in Atlanta and New York later in 2016. The film is scheduled for release in the United States on April 14, 2017.
