Teenagers who used to run errands on a bike in the streets of Quatre-Bornes become the source of a drama. One of them struck Marie Therese Furcy. She died at once.

A motorcycle race was the cause of a fatal accident, which occurred on the night of Monday, February 14, in the streets of Quatre-Bornes. Marie Therese Furcy, 44 years-old and resident of the Ollier Street was violently hit by a motorcycle. The driver, a resident of Camp Levieux, aged only 16.

Gwendoline, a local resident witnessed the accident. "We heard a noise in the street. Like almost every night kids come to run errands on a bike. I looked out the window and saw my neighbour who was overthrown by a two-wheeler that was drifting at a brisk pace," she says.

The accident occurred around 10:10 p.m. The victim, just as the driver, fell at the asphalt. "She stayed there for about a quarter of an hour until help arrived on the scene," says Gwen, who also alerted the police of Quatre-Bornes. The injured were transported to Victoria Hospital in Candos, where doctors could only to record the death of Marie Therese Suzy.

The young driver has been placed under medical observation. As soon as he was allowed to leave the hospital, the teenager was taken to the police station Four-Terminal before being transferred to the police station in Rose Hill, where he was interrogated. He has to answer a provisional charge of manslaughter.

Police said the victim died instantly. An autopsy by the medical examiner, Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, reveals that the woman died of a fractured skull.
