Flooded bridge over Petite Riviere Noire
Because heavy rains on Monday 21 February bridge over Petite Riviere Noire was flooded. Traffic was severely disrupted nearly for three hours on the busy road to the West with more caps than 500 m in both directions.

From the early afternoon, the police advised drivers to be very cautious in approaching the bridge over the river Fatima. However, the situation was getting worse and around 14 hours very high water pressure destroyed the handrails of the bridge.

Special Mobile Force (SMF) officers have been dispatched there after the Information Room of the police had been alerted and information relayed to the Operation Room of the Special Mobile Force 14 people were immediately rushed to the scene of the incident at approximately 15 hours.

"We were informed of the situation and we arrived on the scene within 45 minutes with our engineering teams. For 16 hours, we were able to clear the bridge and restore the flow temporarily, " said Sgt Luchmun, Special Mobile Force, to the Le Matinal

Units of the SMF, backed by fire-fighters at first cleared the deck of all waste that blocked the way. Just the once this work is done, traffic could resume temporarily while crews continued their work in place. It was just around 18 hours as traffic was able to take its normal path after the police had installed safety barriers on both sides of the bridge.
