What seemed to be a hit and run proved to be a murder masked as accident. On the night of Saturday, March 12, three young were found unconscious Avenue Cap, Palma. One of them, Baron Stewart aged 18 died when his twin brother, Stephen Baron and friends Joel Adriel, 19 were seriously injured.
At first the police had thought about crash followed by a hit and run. It had been aware that the youth had been struck by a white van and had arrested a local resident. Continuing their investigation, members of the Central Investigation Division (CID) have found that the victims had earlier in the evening of Saturday, March 12, had an altercation with two people of the Basin Road, Quatre Bornes, including the driver of vehicle involved in the accident.
Investigators discovered that the youth had been attacked in the brawl that followed the dispute. The two arrested persons, and Nikesh Kumar Anirao Raujee Matou, were subjected to close questioning. They admitted that their van had struck the brothers and their friend Baron.
The two suspects will appear this Monday, March 14, the court of Rose Hill. They meet a provisional charge of murder. Stewart's funeral will take place in Baron's Church of Saint-Sauveur, Bamboo, at 15:00 on Monday.
