India-Made Renault Duster Hits South Africa in 6 Months
After making its debut in the Indian market, and proving to be an eyeball grabber, the Chennai-made Renault Duster is flying off to South Africa in the next six months.

Though exact dates have not been declared, reports suggest that the vehicle should hit the roads in the final months of the year.

Unlike in India, the Duster would be offered in South Africa with both 2WD and 4WD variants. South Africa has another rebadged Dacia product on sale – the Renault Sandero – which will move to the next generation in 2013.

With a high ground clearance of 210mm, a 35 degree approach angle and a 45 degree departure angle, the Duster can be taken off-road without second thoughts. Engine options could be similar to what is provided on the Indian version which consists of a 1.6L petrol engine and a 1.5 L diesel engine.

South Africa is a petrol market and we’ll have to wait and see how many diesel variants are exported.

Pricing for the South African model has not been announced yet but as per reports it could start at 115,000 South African Rand (roughly Rs 421 850).

The response to the Renault Duster in India has been great, with close to 10,000 bookings registered already. Renault might hope a similar reaction from the South African market too.
