The 2012 Indian line-up will consists of three variants of the Chief model. The 2012 Indian Chief Vintage is based on the 1948 Chief while the Chief Dark Horse sports a "Thunder Black Smoke" paintjob.
The Chief Classic completes the trio and will be powered by a chromed version of the company’s 45-degree, single-cam pushrod Power Plus Engine.
Key features of the bikes are front and rear suspension, disc brakes and chrome exhaust pipes.
The bikes doesn’t come cheap with prices hovering around R200 000.
Founded in 1901, Indian was America’s first motorcycle company, producing models like the Scout and the Chief and it was said to be the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.
In 1953, Indian Motorcycles went bankrupt and despite several revival attempts, the company never achieved success.
The company will focus on the American market and with a limited international footprint, there is no indication whether the company will come to South Africa region.
