Koenigsegg Reveals One-Off Agera RS, First Customer-Built Regeras Before Geneva
Koenigsegg is once again looking to steal the spotlight in Geneva with a trio of supercars.

One company that always makes its presence known at the Geneva Motor Show is Koenigsegg. The boutique hypercar company is out to steal the spotlight once again in Switzerland with another trio of cars. Koenigsegg is bringing the one-off Agera RS Gryphon and the first two customer copies of the hybrid Regera to the Swiss show. Let's start with the Gryphon first. The inspiration for the name comes from a few places, first of which is the legendary creature known for its strength and speed.

Those are two attributes all Koenigseggs share. Fun fact: The flag of Skåne, the Swedish province where Koenigsegg's Ängelholm factory is located, has a gryphon on it. The Agera RS Gryphon features a clear carbon exterior highlighted by 24-karat gold leaf. Every gold accent present was hand-applied by Ettore "Blaster" Callegaro, the Italian craftsman who did the gold leafing on the Agera Hundra. The interior is a mix of black Alcantara, carbon fiber and black anodized aluminum. "Gryphon" stitching is found on the dashboard and matches the badging, if it can be called that, present on the car's rear quarter panels. The customer who ordered this Agera RS optioned it with the One:1's engine spec.

This means the 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 puts out 1,341 horsepower instead of the Agera RS' standard 1,160 ponies. Koenigsegg notes this makes it oh-so-close to achieving the One:1's power-to-weight ratio; the Agera RS barely misses the mark as it has a curb weight of 1,395 kilograms versus the One:1's 1,360 kgs. The Agera RS Gryphon will be fully compliant with US regulations so keep an eye out for it the next time you hit the highway. Just kidding. Catching this car in the wild will be as unlikely as seeing an actual gryphon flying around. In addition to the one-off Agera RS Gryphon the Koenigsegg booth will feature the first two customer-built Regeras, one in green and the other in red.

More specifically, the two Regeras are finished in a spin on the classic British Racing Green and candy apple red. The green example features a gorgeous Saddle Brown leather interior. We love the black leather (with Ligonberry accents!) on the candy apple red Regera but that Saddle Brown is something else. Both cars were spec'd with Koenigsegg's "Tresex" hollow-core carbon fiber wheels, which the automaker says are 40% lighter when compared to lightweight alloy wheels of comparable size. Wrapping the lightweight wheels are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The Regera is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and three electric motors. The combination produces 1,500 hp, all of which is sent to the rear wheels sans transmission.

Of these three incredible supercars our early favorite is the green Regera, but that could change once we see the trio in the metal next week in Geneva. We'll be sure to post live shots of these Koenigseggs when we get them. For now check out these press images and let us know which one is your favorite. It's more than OK if you can't decide.
