La Vigie Accident: Driver Blames Slippery
The driver of the van involved in a road accident which caused two serious injuries at La Vigie, Saturday, told police he lost control of his vehicle because the road was slippery. The heavy rains that fell on him this region have facilitated the task with reduced visibility, he said.

But investigators from the police station in New France do not exclude the possibility that this 37 year old man was traveling at too high a speed. Meanwhile, according to medical services, the health of two residents of Trois-Boutiques injured in the accident is worrying.

The accident occurred at 14:30 when the truck, with its seven passengers, negotiating the roundabout La Vigie. In doing so, the vehicle skidded, hitting passing a guardrail before overturning on the right flank. The victims, who were returning from a builders yard, were injured. Two of them were seriously affected. Both men were rushed to hospital in Rose-Belle.

The accident disrupted traffic in the area and motorists going south had to take their troubles patiently. Finally, the situation is settled when the vehicle was towed by the police.

Another accident occurred earlier Saturday at almost the same place. A bus has overturned a cyclist of 32 years. Seriously injured, it was taken to the hospital in Rose-Belle, where he was admitted to intensive care. The bus driver told police he did not notice the victim, who is suddenly out of a side street.
