"All bikes must be road-legal, no hard-core off-road bikes."
AND THE WINNER IS...
Judges were told to vote for their top six bikes over a two-day test in Gauteng. Judges tested the cream of South Africa’s biking crop at Midvaal Raceway as well as on the open road for 10km loops from the Vaal dam to Magalies.
And the winner of the 2013 South African Bike of the Year is… the BMW R1200GS. Second place went to the KTM 1190 Adventure and third to the Triumph Daytona E675R.
According to the organisers: “While it may seem unfair to try to compare a KTM 1190 Adventure with a Triumph Daytona 675R and a Suzuki GW250 Inazuma, each bike was rated on its own merits and against previous versions of that bike and not against any other bike in the competition.”
Here are SA's top six bikes:
1 BMW R1200 GS
2 KTM 1190
3 Triumph Daytona 675
