Mercedes has revealed new Unimog at the 2013 Auto Shanghai. Mercedes has endowed the new trucks with extensive design innovations to the interior and exterior. The Unimog features a prominent triple bar grille, and a rugged look of something which can traverse any surface.
The Unimog has been tested in the most harshest conditions including driving on icy roads, tackling mountains of snow and in temperatures as low as -30° Celsius (-22° F). They have also been tested for hot weather in Granada, Spain where they were subjected to temperatures in excess 45° Celsius (113° F) and in the Sierra Nevada mountains at altitudes of 2,500m (8,202 feet).
The juggernaut features a new range of BlueTec 6 diesel engine that meets the new Euro VI emissions standard expected to come into effect on January 1, 2014. They will feature a particulate filter as well as an SCR/AdBlue system.
Many components of the Unimog have been adopted from large-scale truck production, such as the new electronics architecture, chassis components, new drive train and control elements. Mercedes claims that technology, handling, safety and driver comfort were the key focus for the development of these new trucks.
