Mini Boat Makes a Splash
Clubvan, Clubman, Countryman… Mini has covered just about every automotive segment there is bar a Mini cement mixer or Monster truck. Now the British automaker has set it sights on the open ocean with a Mini boat.

Mini made quite a splash at its annual Motor-Tober activities, when it showcased its next niche model - a floating convertible.

In October, Mini celebrates all that is fun about its brand and at its 2012 programme "Not Normal Sales Event", debuted its one-of-a-kind boat as part of its interpretation of "Not Normal".

Convertible Boat

The automaker tested its special buoyant Cooper on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The convertible boat, powered by a 4.4kW outboard motor, is a glass-fibre version of a 2004 Mini created from a mould and then mounted onto a boat hull.

The boat is decked out with Mini wheels, tyres, headlights, badge, steering wheel and grille.

Tom Salkowsky, Mini USA's marketing manager, said: 'We challenged our regional staff and the dealers in their respective areas to identify ‘Not Normal' ways to celebrate Motor-Tober by engaging the Mini community and demonstratng why it's an exciting brand family to be part of.

“The Mini USA Eastern Region has created the perfect example of what the Motor-Tober 'Not Normal Sales Event' is all about with the Mini convertible boat.”
