The reason for this waiver request, according to Christophe Leroux, president of the association is that these cars are ancient heritage of our island: "This exemption, if approved, will concern only 150 to 200 classic cars. Moreover, they are easily visible to "speed cameras" because they do not drive fast. Then, they are so few."
Christophe Leroux added that these plates are being made based on the British model, and that those old cars from Great Britain have not been changed. However, it is respectful of the law said. If it will obviously change the plates of their classic cars, the association will make an application to the Commissaire de Police (CP) to get permission to put the old plate during their annual trips and in the context of parades.
