Hited by a car
The road has claimed another victim on Friday. Luchmun Suresh, 47, living Rivière-du-Poste, passed away in the evening after suffering the morning a serious accident. He crossed the main road, around 6: 45 pm, when he was hit by a car. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital Nehru.The driver, a resident of Suriname, was submitted to a breath test which proved negative. He was released after being questioned by police in Rivière-des-Eels. He will be arraigned on Monday in response to a provisional charge of manslaughter.
Driving license suspended
Fifties saw a driver's license suspended for a period of three years. He was also fined Rs 50,000. This is the sentence imposed by the magistrate Seebaluck Raj, the intermediate court, which found him guilty of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, causing loss of life. The victim is called a Coopoosamy Virasami and was in the vehicle driven by the defendant. The accident occurred on 1 August 2010 at Camp Berthaud Road, Britannia. At trial, the defendant pleaded guilty on charges of "Causing death by careless driving influence of alcohol When Under."
At Cluny: a car bearing down on nine
Monday, September 26. The scene took place last night at Cluny: a car deliberately drove nine. Five of them were seriously injured while four others were able to return to their homes after they were treated in hospital.The driver was arrested this morning. His brother was also arrested in connection with the investigation. One of the injured told this morning on Radio Plus his friends and himself were on the roadside when a car drove over them. " It's a reckoning for a few minutes earlier the brother of the driver had been in trouble with us ," he recalls.
