Boutehra did not confirm details other than calling the Duster a "Complete New" product.
The second gen Duster comes eight years after the current generation landed in first markets under Dacia and Renault. Reports suggest that the next gen Dacia Duster will spawn a 7-seater variant, rumoured to be 200 mm longer than the regular 5-seat Duster, measuring 4.7 metres in overall length.
The exterior design is expected to look evolutionary and more contemporary than current Duster, but not rounded and curvy to clash with the Renault Kaptur.
The next gen Duster could continue to ride on the B0 platform, albeit with slight modifications. For the European markets, engine lineup is reported to comprise of a 124 bhp 1.2-litre TCe petrol unit and a 130 bhp 1.6-litre diesel unit that could replace the current 1.5-litre dCi diesel unit, available with manual and EDC automatic gearbox options.
The report also states that the MY2017 Dacia Duster receives an update this March, the highlight being a new 6-speed EDC (dual clutch) automatic transmission on the 4X2 variant.
