The Next Nissan Leaf Won't Look Like a Golf Cart
There may be some hope after all.

Believe it or not, the Nissan Leaf has been on the market since 2010, and it’ll soon become outdated by a number of emerging rivals. We also know that the second-generation model is due to arrive sometime in 2017. Nissan is promising even greater range thanks to a new and more powerful battery. For owners who are currently using their Leafs for the basic daily commute, the EV serves their needs just fine. But with the introduction of the Tesla Model S, it's now clear an EV doesn't have to look like a golf cart.

And that’s just what the current Leaf looks like. The Model S, on the other hand, is sleek, stylish, and can hold its own even when compared to a Jaguar. Sources are now claiming the next Leaf will have a more conventional look with even sharper styling. More than likely, Nissan is taking design cues from its Lannia Concept revealed earlier this year at Beijing. Nissan has also hinted the second-gen Leaf will continue to be a hatchback, but if the Lannia’s design can be adapted into a five-door configuration, then that whole golf cart joke could finally be laid to rest.
