This arrangement would not have been possible without South Africa-based AIH, which formed the Premcar SA joint venture with the folks at Premcar. Scheduled to start deliveries by the end of April 2025, the newcomer is different from Australia's Navara PRO-4X Warrior.
First of all, the South African model doesn't feature a winch-capable bullbar. The front end's light bar is also missing, along with the front bash plate and 3.0-millimeter undercarriage metal plates. The list continues with a set of Maxxis RAZR all-terrain rubber instead of Discoverer AT3 boots from Cooper Tire.
Equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, the South African specification also flaunts a unique chassis tune, with the dampers and springs optimized for local roads and terrain. Further gifted with rugged wheel arch flares, the Warrior also comes with branded front seats.
While said mods don't appear to be much over the standard PRO-4X grade, bear in mind that Premcar knows a thing or two about off-road capability. In addition to Premcar, which was born from the ashes of Ford Performance Vehicles, the peeps at Walkinshaw also had to make a 180-degree turn after General Motors announced its exit from the Aussie market.
Previously responsible for the Holden Special Vehicles division, Walkinshaw presently converts full-size trucks and sport utility vehicles to right-hand drive. Think Chevrolet Silverado in light- and heavy-duty forms, the GMC Yukon, and Toyota Tundra as well.
Turning our attention back to the South African PRO-4X Warrior, this fellow is reportedly available to order at Nissan South Africa dealers. The consumer website has no information whatsoever on the Premcar SA-modified Warrior, but we do know the regular PRO-4X starts at 844,000 rand or just around 45,800 dollars at current exchange rates.
It's the most expensive trim level available for the double-cab Navara in this part of the world. Four-wheel drive is obviously standard, along with a 2.5-liter turbo diesel I4 paired to a 7-speed automatic rather than 9 speeds for the North American 2025 Nissan Frontier.
Rated at 1,003 kilograms (2,211 pounds) for payload, the PRO-4X comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, satellite navigation, Blind Spot Warning, a 360-degree camera system, and Lane Departure Warning. Over in the United States, the Frontier PRO-4X Crew Cab has a payload of 1,220 pounds (553 kilograms).
Following the Navara PRO-4X, the Warrior treatment expanded to the SL trim level of the mid-size pickup truck, as well as the Patrol sport utility vehicle. You can think of the Patrol as the Armada with a different badge. According to Nissan Australia, the Y63-gen Patrol is expected to hit dealer showrooms in either late 2026 or early 2027 for model year 2027.
