Nissan's Taxi of Tomorrow Gets Charging Ports, Cupholders
2 Novembre 2011 - Insideline
Nissan on Monday unveiled the cabin of its NV200, the "taxi of tomorrow," showing off a vehicle chock full of amenities, including charging ports, cupholders and rear-seat climate controls.
The NV200, which will be New York City's exclusive taxi starting in late 2013, also gets a transparent roof panel to provide a better view of the Big Apple.
The successor to the Lincoln Town Car cab, the NV200 has a flat floor with no hump and "enhanced interior materials intended to help passenger cabin smell fresher," said Nissan in a statement.
There is enough room in the rear to fit the luggage of four passengers.
Nissan's Taxi of Tomorrow Design Expo kicks off today on the pedestrian plaza across from the Flatiron building at Broadway and Fifth Avenue. It runs through November 5.
Ben Bailey, the host of the Discovery Channel's Cash Cab game show, will host a special social media edition of the trivia program live from the Design Expo.
Nissan's taxi will serve New York City for the next 10 years. It won the assignment after a competition, beating out the Ford Transit Connect and an entry from Turkish manufacturer Karsan Otomotiv.
