Passion Drive, Viglietti To Launch Maserati Brand
Passion Drive Co Ltd and Maserati South Africa held a press meet on Thursday at Ebene to announce the private grand launch of the Maserati brand of cars in Mauritius.

The event was held in the presence of the chief executive officer of Passion Drive, Ravi Ettoo, Viglietti Motors CEO Mervyn Eagles and national marketing officer Jason Cleghorn.

The luxury cars will be unveiled on Friday in Phoenix in front of the President of the Republic, Sir Anerood and lady Sarojini Jugnauth.

Ettoo said that they have been in the automotive industry since 2005 and have tied up with Viglietti Motors for the expansion of Maserati on the island. He added, “Though we are a small country there is a lot of potential for luxury cars and we are offering Maserati, which is a comfortable car and driver-friendly.”

Eagles said that Mauritius is an emerging market and presents an opportunity to further enhance this world famous marquee. He added, “Viglietti Motors Private Ltd is the sole dealer for Maserati motor vehicles for sub-Saharan Africa and we are proud to be associated with the Ettoo group of companies in Mauritius.”

He said that Viglietti Motors was established as a family owned business in 1972 and since then has grown from year to year focusing on the import of both Maserati and Ferrari into the Southern African market.

“Our relationship with the Ettoo group of companies signals an expansion of Viglietti Motors into Mauritius. Already with an established client base here, we view this as an opportunity to not only deliver Maseratis into the country but to create a far greater brand recognition, making Maserati the most revered luxury sports car that Mauritians will be able to drive,” he added.

“Maserati cars are designed according to the customers’ taste and preference,” he explained. Replying to a question by The Independent, Eagles said that Mauritius was chosen for its geographical location and the fact that it represents a potential hub for business expansion in the African region.
