Production-Spec Toyota C-HR Crossover Could Be Built in Turkey
Toyota’s upcoming crossover could be manufactured at the company’s plant in Adapazari, Sakarya, located in northwestern Turkey, given the close proximity to key European and Middle Eastern markets.

Currently, this plant manufactures the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Versa, and the possibility of building the crossover at this location was discussed in an article published on the Turkish government’s website for investors

The new crossover will slot below the Toyota RAV4, and compete against the VW Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai and Mitsubishi ASX. Toyota has announced that the production model will debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show (March 2016).

The exterior styling was previewed by the radical Toyota C-HR concept 2-door and 4-door concepts at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, respectively. According to a spokesperson, Toyota will focus more on distinctive styling than practicality and space.

The upcoming crossover will ride on Toyota’s new TNGA modular platform, and could pack a next-generation hybrid powertrain as a separate option. Unlike Toyota’s current hybrid offerings, the crossover’s hybrid powertrain will have a natural engine response. An electric E-Four AWD system could also be offered, where the electric motors drive the rear wheels and the engine powers the front axle.
