The Indian bike manufacturer has already appointed an official importer and distributor for Europe.
Royal Enfield's first dual-sport bike measures 2,190 mm in length, 840 mm in width, 1,360 mm in height, 1,465 mm in wheelbase, 220 mm in ground clearance, 800 mm in saddle height, 182 kg in kerb weight and has a 15 litre fuel tank. The chassis was developed by UK-based Harris Performance.
The Himalayan features a tall windscreen, mudguard and a mud flap, half-duplex split cradle frame, a 41 mm long-travel telescopic fork with rubber boots and 200 mm travel, monoshock with linkage and 180 mm travel and tubeless multipurpose tires. It gets analog instruments such as speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge, and a digital display for trip readings, odo reading, time, compass and ambient temperature.
Powering the Himalayan is an all-new 411 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. The motor develops 24.5 PS at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm. The intake has a carburettor that is equipped with a throttle position sensor.
