South American-Spec Renault Kwid Patent Images Leak

The Kwid will reportedly replace the current Renault Clio Mio in the Brazilian market.

The Renault Kwid for the South American market will be manufactured in Brazil, and, according to the patent images, looks similar to the model sold in India, contradicting older reports stating that it will be different. The only notable differences are a body-colored rear bumper and door handles, lack of side rub-guards, and chrome foglamp enclosures.

To pass the grueling Latin NCAP tests, the Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid’s chassis could be slightly modified for better strength and rigidity. It could also be fitted with ABS as standard, since it’s the minimum safety feature required to be fitted in a Brazilian-spec car, reports Noticias Automotivas.

It will, reportedly, pack a bigger 1.0-liter 12 valve three cylinder engine producing 77 hp and capable of running on both petrol and ethanol. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard, while an AMT gearbox is also in the cards.
