Do you remember the eVitara, aka Suzuki’s first electric vehicle that became the foundation stone for the Toyota bZ SUV? Well, it was just detailed for Australia, ahead of its arrival at local dealers scheduled for this June.

The model utilizes the HEARTECT-e platform, a construction dedicated to EVs, which is said to optimize cabin space, while also efficiently managing the collision energy, the structural rigidity and range, and integrating the high-voltage battery systems for daily usability.

Those are some big words used to describe it, right? But what exactly powers the Suzuki eVitara? That would be a fully-electric powertrain assisted by a lithium iron-phosphate battery system, with the brand mentioning the electric drive axles, the integrated heat pump battery thermal management system said to be standard, and two battery capacities.

The standard model features 2WD (Motion) and has a 49 kWh battery pack, whereas the AWD variant, named the ALLGRIP-e (Ultra) comes with a 61 kWh unit. The base version of car that has 106 kW (144 ps/142 hp), whereas the superior one, namely the Ultra, offers 135 kW (184 ps/181 hp) and an extra 114 Nm (84 lb-ft) of torque.

According to the Japanese automaker, the Suzuki eVitara supports DC rapid charging, taking 45 minutes to refill from 10 to 80 percent. At 11 kW, a 10-100 percent recharge takes 5.5 hours, and that cycle increases to 9 hours at 7 kW.

Suzuki says the eVitara Motion has a 344-kilometer (214 miles) range, features dusk-sensing headlights, 18-inch alloys, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a single-zone climate control system, 12-color ambient lighting, fabric upholstery, a 4-speaker audio system, rain-sensing wipers, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch central display, several driving modes, a 360-degree camera system, and many others.
Picking the Ultra version of the eVitara will get your electric crossover an enhanced range, said to be 395 kilometers (245 miles), as well as all-wheel drive, AllGrip-e, adaptive high beams, front LED fog lamps, a glass roof, and a wireless charging pad. This model also features fabric and synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats with electric adjustment for the driver, and a few other things over the lesser variant.

Safety-wise, you are looking at seven airbags, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure prevention, high beam assist, blind spot monitor, multi-collision braking, parking sensors at both ends, adaptive cruise control, etc.

Despite announcing pretty much everything there is to know about its new eVitara, Suzuki has chosen to keep the pricing details for the Land Down Under close to its chest for now. As a result, we will revisit this model when the order books open, and in case you forgot, that will happen this June. Is this model a yay or a nay to you?
