Toyota JPN Taxi at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
The Toyota JPN Taxi is being showcased at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It is based on the JPN Taxi Concept from the 2013 edition of the same motor show.

The company hopes to ferry tourists from around the globe when they arrive for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games being hosted by Tokyo.

The design follows a retro theme, quite similar to the iconic London Cab. The higher end Takumi grade features Bi-Beam LED headlights along with vertical rear tail lights on the D-Pillar. The show car is finished in koiai deep indigo, a colour that is an integral part of the Japanese culture. Design features include a low, flat floor, making it easy for customers to ingress and egress from the taxi, a wide-opening, power rear sliding door (left side only) and space to accommodate wheelchair users.

The Toyota JPN Taxi employs a newly developed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) hybrid system. It offers 19.4 km/L (Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's JC08 test cycle) fuel economy. Toyota claims a sharp reduction in CO2 emissions as well. From a safety standpoint, the taxi gets Toyota Safety Sense C package and six SRS airbags as standard features.

Toyota's official release puts the price of the entry-level Nagomi grade at JPY 3,277,800. The fully-loaded Takumi trim has a suggested retail price of JPY 3,499,200.
