Still, it's a very basic vehicle with a cheap interior and a minimum of features. They don't have to be that way, though, as shown by Australian aftermarket company PVS. The company took one of these Land Cruisers and turned it into a seriously posh machine that could rival a Mercedes G-Class. The price can, too.
What PVS Did
PVS is a company that makes various aftermarket parts for Toyota Land Cruisers, such as different lighting, steering wheels, and a modern touchscreen infotainment and navigation systems for the long-running vehicles. They also sell exterior styling and protection parts from a company called Urnieta, which is based in China. As such, PVS's custom Land Cruiser is a showcase of all these parts, as well as some unique custom touches.
The starting point was a black 2025 Land Cruiser SUV with a turbocharged 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel and a six-speed automatic. It also makes the stock amount of power and torque at 201 horses and 369 pound-feet. The outside is covered with Urnieta parts, including the front bumper, side steps, wheels, roof platform, and spare tire cover. PVS also applied a clear paint protection wrap.
Though the outside is all dark and subtle, the interior is anything but. PVS fitted a pair of Recaro sports bucket seats, and virtually every surface has been covered in matching indigo-colored Alcantara. That includes the dash and door panels, the ceiling, and, of course, all of the seats. Even the custom rear drawer storage system is covered in the stuff. The upholstery also features orange contrast stitching, and the seatbelts were changed to a matching orange. Naturally, a couple of PVS's own products show up including the aforementioned infotainment screen and a custom steering wheel.
This PVS Land Cruiser isn't just a show car for the company, it's actually for sale. It's the first one the company has done, and if you like it as is, PVS will sell it to you for $200,000 in Australia, before taxes. At the time of writing, that comes to just under $133,000 in the US. For reference, a base Mercedes-Benz G-Class in Australia with a turbodiesel straight-six and significantly more power than the Land Cruiser starts at around $167,000 (about $111,000 US). In the US, the base G-Class gets a gas V8 and starts at around $155,000. So the PVS Land Cruiser isn't cheap. Of course, you're not going to get an indigo interior like the PVS model in a base G-Class in either country.
PVS makes it clear that if there are any other things you would want done to it, that would add to the cost. It is also open to building additional models. So, if you have something else in mind, perhaps different interior and exterior colors, PVS will be ready to create something specific for your needs.
