Tree lopping starts along Curepipe roads
The Municipality of Curepipe launched a tree lopping campaign earlier this week to avoid possible risks to pedestrians and the public in general. This aim is to cut trees that crowd the roads in the city of Curepipe.

The chairman of the health committee, Iqbal Bundheea said that the board took this decision several months ago but they had to wait for all the different procedures and consultations with other partners to initiate work.

Bundheea emphasised that the operation, which began at Robinson Street in Floreal will be extended throughout the city.

According to the president of the Health Committee, many people are unaware of the danger posed by these branches.

The municipality has decided to take concrete action in the interest of citizens.

“These branches block the sight of motorists and they can’t see road signs clearly,” he said.

He recalled that the mayor of Curepipe is proactive and is already preparing to counter any risks, especially before the cyclonic season begins.

He made an appeal to the public to cooperate in the campaign of urban pruning.

“Residents of Curepipe can call on the hotline 8990 for queries. We will assist them in all ways to cut these branches so as to clear the streets,” he said.

Bundheea asked the citizens to protect the environment and to remain at the forefront as this benefits all the residents in the city.
