The secretary of the FCST, Krishandikk Gobin said that the meeting was organised to present the problems they were facing.
During this session, issues such as employees’ safety, acts of aggression by passengers who refuse to pay for their tickets and dangers while doing night shift were discussed.
The unions appealed to the minister to make necessary amendments to the laws. “It is unacceptable that the compensation of Retirement Gratuity is based on our basic salary and not on our payroll.The employers only give us overseas leaves if we are absent from the country for a minimum period of 60 days,” said Gobin.
Mohamed assured them that these problems will be discussed with the directors of companies. He expressed confidence that a consensus will be found soon.
