Series star Vin Diesel confirmed the dates of two upcoming films with a simple image on his Instagram (below). The ninth installment of the franchise will apparently hit the big screen on April 19, 2019. The tenth film will follow on April 2, 2021.
We don't know much about these newly announced films, but last month, Diesel revealed a teaser poster for Fast 8 on Instagram, and it prominently featured an image of the Empire State Building. We're sure fans of the series will be sufficiently pleased with the stunts that Dom and the rest of the crew manage in the Big Apple when that movie comes to theaters on April 14, 2017. Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray takes over directing duties on Fast 8, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson confirms he's in the film.
Diesel has hinted that the next three installments could be a trilogy to end the franchise. That would make the tenth movie the final one in the main series, but spinoffs and prequels might keep the lucrative films in theaters for years afterward. Whenever the story ends, we still have a long time before Fast and Furious 10 (or whatever Universal Pictures calls it) hits the screen, and that means plenty cool cars are still on the way from the series. Somehow, we doubt many of them will be as cool as the Fugu Z that actor Sung Kang recently gave us a closer look at.
