VW disguises Cross Blue test mule to resemble Jeep Grand Cherokee
The VW CrossBlue concept was introduced at the 2013 North American International Auto in Detroit.

As Volkswagen continues with the development of the CrossBlue concept's production version using Jeep Grand Cherokee's body, one of its engineering mules has been spied yet again, courtesy auto.sohu.com.

The VW CrossBlue concept's production version will share the MQB platform with the VW Tiguan and VW Tiguan LWB (name TBA). The VW CrossBlue concept's production version will sit as a mid-size crossover rivaling the Honda Pilot and the likes. Positioned even higher, will be the VW T-Prime Concept GTE's production version, a full-size premium crossover.

The VW CrossBlue concept's production version is expected to be largely targeted at USA, Canada and China. The North American-spec model will be manufactured by Volkswagen Group of America at the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee, USA, while the China-spec model will be made locally by SAIC Volkswagen. Production at the Chattanooga plant has been confirmed to commence at the end of 2016.

The VW CrossBlue concept’s production version could be offered with the 3.6-litre V6 from the VW Passat and a 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine in the U.S. market. Also, considering the high demand of electrified vehicles in the USA and China, a hybrid variant may also be in the cards.
