VW Ends Kombi Run
SAO PAULO, Brazil - VW is to end production of its Kombi transporter van, made only in Brazil, with the model bowing out in a special 600-unit manufacturing run.

The German automaker said on August 15 2013 that about 1.5-million Kombis had been assembled in Sao Bernardo do Campo, a Sao Paulo suburb, between 1957 and July 2013.

'LONGEST LONGEVITY'

The Kombi was launched in Germany in 1950 and has the title "longest longevity in car industry history", the statement said.

The "Last Edition VW Kombi" will be sold at a suggested price equivalent to Rs 1.15m.

Kombi models assembled in Brazil have since 1970 been exported to, among other countries, Algeria, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela and Uruguay.
