Watch the Dancing Traffic Cop from Providence, RI
Directing traffic in downtown Providence, RI since 1984, and originally inspired by a bit on the old Candid Camera TV show, Officer Tony Lepore is a traffic cop with serious moves.
The descriptively dubbed "Dancing Cop" has been exhibiting near-criminal levels of flair for holiday motorists long enough to be considered a genuine attraction in the New England city.
Truth is, Officer Lepore hasn't been a full-time peacekeeper since he left the force to go into business with his brother, way back in 1988. Four years later, Providence officials asked Lepore to return on a 10-day contract, to help draw more shoppers to the downtown area during the holiday season. The Dancing cop has been so successful since then, he's been asked back every year to bust a move for the season.
