2001-2002 Mazda Tribute Recalled for Fire Risk
Mazda is recalling 52,390 2001-2002 Tributes to replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and modify the antilock brake electrical system because of possible fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Mazda says that owners should park their Tributes outside until the repair has been performed.

"The brake master cylinder reservoir cap can leak brake fluid," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "If brake fluid leaks, it could come in contact with the antilock brake system module wiring harness connector. Corrosion may develop in the electrical connector leading (to) melting, smoking or possible fire."

Mazda dealers will replace the Tribute's brake master cylinder reservoir cap and modify the antilock brake electrical system.
