BMW keep on the list of new car for 2011
BMW 1 Series Full-size changes are going on for the 1 Series this year with the exit of the twin-turbo N54 inline-6 in favour of the single, dual-scroll turbocharged N55 inline-6. Both engines make 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. This new motor is matching with a new-for-2011 seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While the six-speed manual is still an option, picking the auto-clutch manual proceeds improved fuel economy. The 128 models keep the conventional automatic.
BMW 3 Series As the 1 Series, the new 3 Series drops its twin-turbo, 300-hp N54 motor for the single-turbo 300-hp N55. This is in the sporty new 335is, which retains the N54, but with an enhancing to 320 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Extra changes are a revised front bumper and grille design (for pedestrian safety, of course), standard bi-xenon headlights that are optionally adaptive, new sideview mirrors, restyled bumpers and LED-enhanced graphics on the taillights. The interior gets a new multifunction steering wheel and BMW's ConnectedDrive across two-door 3 Series models.
BMW 5 Series It is all-new for 2011. The new car features an all-aluminium hood, front fenders and door panels. Models range from the 528i, which features a 240-hp 3.0-liter inline-6 to the 300-hp N55 (there it is again) single-turbo inline-6 to the 400-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 found in the 2011 BMW 550i. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board. The 2011 5 Series is 2.3 inches longer, half an inch wider and, surprisingly, shorter than the car it replaces. The wheelbase is up to 116.9 inches and the track is increased by 1.7 inches front and 1.8 inches rear. The track stands at 63 inches and 64.1 inches, respectively.
BMW 6 Series There are no changes to the 2011 6 Series, as it will be replaced with an all-new, completely redesigned model for 2012.
BMW 7 Series Cheaper and more fuel-efficient, the next generation BMW 7 Series, the 740i in particular, is available with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6. In this car, it makes 315 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. The 740i averages 7,3 city and 10,7 highway km/l on the EPA's cycle, up from 6,4/9,4 on the 750i
BMW M1 The car is a thoroughly warmed-over 135i and controversially the first M-car to have a series production engine instead of a specially developed M unit.
BMW M3 The M3 is largely untouched for 2011, but is now available with the new $2,500 Competition package. The new ZCP option lowers the car by 0.4 inch, adds 19-inch wheels with greater offset and remapped damper controls and stability control.
BMW M5 Wating for an all-new twin-turbo V8-powered M5 in 2012.
BMW M6 As with the 2011 BMW M5, there is no M6 this year. The new 6 Series should debut next year, with an M version to follow a year after.
BMW X3 The X3 is all-new for 2011 and accessible in xDrive28i and xDrive35i models. The 28i features BMW's 3.0-liter, 240-hp inline six-cylinder while the 35i features a turbocharged 3.0-liter direct-injection motor that makes 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The xDrive 35i is also available with a sport package. The new crossover is half an inch taller, 3.4 inches longer and 1.1 inches wider than the car it replaces and features a more aggressive look.
BMW X5 Two new engines and a temperate face-lift (bumpers, headlamps, tail lamps, fog lamps, intakes, new rear apron and new colours) highlight the changes to the 2011 BMW X5. The new engines include the twin-turbo 4.4-liter, 400-hp V8 in the X5 xDrive50i and a single-turbo, 3.0-liter direct-injection inline-6 in the X5 xDrive35i. Both are matched to an eight-speed automatic. Lane departure warning and active cruise control with Stop and Go are now options for 2011.
BMW X5 M No changes for this year.
BMW X6 The BMW X6 this year gets the same N55, single-turbo inline-6 that virtually every other BMW gets this year. The six-speed automatic is now replaced with an eight-speed auto. Lane departure warning and active cruise control are options for 2011.
BMW X6 M Still no changes.
BMW Z4 The main change to the Z4 line-up for 2011 is the addition of the Z4 sDrive35is. This new variant is powered by a tweaked version of the twin-turbo N54 motor producing 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The Z4 sDrive 35is is available only with a seven-speed double-clutch transmission and carries a base price of $61,925.
