2012 Honda CR-V Launched in South Africa
Honda has launched the all new CR-V in South Africa for the starting price of 2,99,900 rand (Rs 1070328). This is an all new CR-V that debuted at the 2012 LA Motor Show. South Africa gets the Honda CR-V in both petrol and diesel avatar.

Honda has also introduced a stripped down FWD model to keep the base price low. This entry level variant is powered by a 2.0L petrol engine that generates 152 hp at 6,500rpm and 192Nm at 4,300rpm.

There is also a bigger 2.4L i-VTEC on offer which churns out 187 hp at 7,000rpm and 220Nm at 4,300rpm. The smaller petrol engine is available only with a manual gearbox whereas the bigger motor can be availed with an automatic transmission.

The diesel charge is lead by Honda’s brand new 2.2-litre i-DTEC mill that produces 197hp at 4,000rpm and 350Nm from 2,000rpm. This engine can be availed in both manual and automatic avatar.

Features include black leather seats, an electrically adjustable driver seat, keyless start and a premium audio system.

Honda India has been privately contemplating on launching the all new CR-V early next year. However, it will be only launched with a petrol motor. Honda has no plans to launch the diesel variant in India anytime soon, making the CR-V a very rare sight on the roads.

The all-new 1.5L diesel engine which is developed for India will only power the Amaze, Brio, Jazz and the City.
