2012 Sema 'Best-In-Show' Revealed
Organisers of the 2012 Speciality Equiment Market Association (Sema) show have announced their top exhibits in Las Vegas where the biggest aftermarket show in the world is currently on the go.

The awards, which were only open to OEM (original equipment manufacturers) exhibitors, recognised the top vehicles in four categories.

The Scion FR-S (or Toyota 86) was voted the Hottest Sport Compact and the Jeep Wrangler scooped the Hottest 4x4 award.

Furthermore, the Ford Mustang was named the Hottest Car and the Ford F-Series (the automaker's best selling pickup) was the Hottest Truck. The Fords are not sold in South Africa.

Chris Kersting, Sema CEO, said: "The Sema show has always been about innovative products and trends.”

The 2012 Sema show features more than 2000 exhibiting companies that manufacture thousands of products designed to improve performance, safety and convenience, and enhance appearance and comfort for the various models.

While products are available for every make and model, exhibitors invested more in the Mustang, FR-S, F-Series and Wrangler than any other vehicles, the show organisers said.

"The Sema Award helps guide consumers toward the hottest-trending and most accessory friendly vehicles on the market," added Kersting.

This was the third year in which the awards were presented.
