The redesigned 2013 Honda Accord sedan earned the highest five-star safety rating in federal crash tests, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2013 Honda Accord coupe has not yet been rated.

The 2013 Honda Accord sedan earned four out of five stars in the frontal crash test, five out of five stars in the side crash test and five out of five in the rollover test, according to federal safety regulators.

The redesigned Accord sedan also earned an overall "good" rating in the tougher, new small overlap frontal crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

One of the Accord's key competitors, the 2013 Ford Fusion, has not yet been rated in federal crash tests. The 2013 Toyota Camry and 2013 Nissan Altima, two other Accord competitors, earned five-star overall ratings in federal crash tests.
