The mild redesign includes less chrome on the front end, as well as redesigned wheels. Hyundai's official statement on the Equus for the home market did not address media speculation that the flagship sedan will be equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A 10-speed transmission would provide fuel economy and performance improvements.
The 2013 Hyundai Equus is equipped with a 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is priced at $60,150, including a $900 destination charge.
Hyundai said the redesigned Equus for South Korea gets a head-up display, a blind-spot detection system and haptic steering.
